Nageshwar Jyotirlinga

One of the 12 Jyotirlingas, 16 km from Dwarka on the road to Bet Dwarka. Falls naturally on the route — most pilgrims combine it with Bet Dwarka on the same morning. Free darshan, no crowds.

Bet Dwarka Island

Krishna’s residential island — separate from the main temple city. Reachable by ferry from Okha (30 km) or directly via the Sudarshan Setu bridge. The island has its own temple, the unique Dandi Hanuman shrine, and a completely different atmosphere from mainland Dwarka.

Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple — Sunset

Start the evening here. An ancient Shiva temple built on a rocky island just off the beach, connected to the mainland by a narrow walkway. One of the finest sunset points in Dwarka — the temple silhouetted against the Arabian Sea. 30 minutes is enough, and the timing works perfectly before the 5:30 PM temple session.

Dwarkadhish Temple — First Darshan

Enter the main Dwarkadhish temple — also called Jagat Mandir. A five-storey temple rising on 72 carved pillars, built over the original site of Krishna’s palace. Photography is not allowed inside. The darshan queue in the evening can take 30–60 minutes depending on the day — factor this in. Spend time in front of the idol before the aarti begins.

Sandhya Aarti ⭐

The evening aarti at Dwarkadhish — different in character from Somnath’s. More elaborate, more ceremonial, reflecting Krishna’s royal status as King of Dwarka. The Lord is offered a light bhog before the aarti. Arrive inside the complex 15–20 minutes early to secure a good position.

The final aarti of the day — the Lord is prepared for rest. Shorter and more intimate than the Sandhya Aarti. If you have the energy after a travel day, attending both is worthwhile. The temple closes at 9:30 PM.

The first aarti of the day at Dwarkadhish — the most peaceful darshan of the entire trip. The temple at dawn, with hardly anyone else there. Completely different atmosphere from the busy evening. Arrive at the gate by 6:15 AM. This is the aarti most pilgrims say they remember most clearly.

Rukmini Devi Temple + Breakfast

2 km from the main temple by auto. Rukmini Devi is Krishna’s principal consort — her temple here is separate from the main complex, and the story behind the separation (a curse from the sage Durvasa) is worth reading before you visit. 30 minutes. Then breakfast before the day circuit begins.

16 km from Dwarka, 30 minutes by car. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas — Lord Shiva worshipped here as Nageshwar (Lord of Serpents). A large complex with a massive Shiva statue at the entrance. Darshan is typically quick without a long queue. Budget 45 minutes here.

Drive to Bet Dwarka — via Sudarshan Setu

Continue from Nageshwar toward Okha (about 22 km). Drive across the Sudarshan Setu bridge — inaugurated in 2024, this 2.3 km cable-stayed bridge connects Okha directly to Bet Dwarka island by road. Park at the island parking lot. From parking, take a share auto (₹100 per person) — it covers all three stops on the island.

Bet Dwarka — Three Stops by Auto

The share auto from the parking covers all three stops. Dwarkadhish Temple (Island) — smaller and more intimate than the mainland temple; rice is the traditional offering here, connecting to Sudama’s gift to Krishna. Dandi Hanuman (Hanuman Dandi) — the only temple in the world where Hanuman’s son Makardhwaja is worshipped alongside him. Chorasi Dhuna — 84 sacred chulhas (fires) burning continuously, an ancient and deeply atmospheric site. Temple timings: 9 AM–1 PM · 3–6 PM.

24 km from Bet Dwarka — India’s only Blue Flag certified beach in Gujarat. Clean, calm, and significantly less crowded than the main city beach. A good late afternoon stop before the final evening if energy allows. Can be combined with the return from Bet Dwarka.

Drive back to Dwarka — about an half hour from Shivrajpur Beach. Lunch in the city. Rest if you need it. If your departure is the next morning you have a free evening — the temple opens again at 5 PM for one final darshan if you wish.

Final Darshan at Dwarkadhish

If time and energy allow — one last darshan at the main temple before leaving. The evening light on the temple spire between 5 and 6 PM is exceptional from outside. Even if you don’t go in, a quiet walk around the temple complex is a good way to close the Dwarka visit.

Practical note: Bet Dwarka temple closes at 1 PM for the afternoon break. Plan to reach the island by 11 AM at the latest for a comfortable morning darshan. If you're delayed, the afternoon session opens at 3 PM — adjust accordingly rather than rushing.
