✦ Recommended Arrival Window
Hotel check-in aligns perfectly — no waiting in lobbies with your bags. After the journey you actually get time to rest and have a proper lunch. You start the evening programme fresh at 4 PM, cover all places without rushing, catch Sandhya Aarti, watch the Light & Sound Show, and still wake up relaxed for Mangala Aarti next morning. Both aartis, all places, zero stress.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 2
Most hotels won’t have your room ready before 11 AM. Don’t fight it — work around it. Drop your luggage at the hotel front desk and head straight out. You have two good options: go to Bhalka Tirth first (it’s a short auto ride, no check-in needed), or head to the temple early when it’s quietest. Check in when you return, rest through the afternoon, and do the full evening programme. Plan around the check-in gap, not against it.
Day 2
Plan Your Time
All distances from Somnath Parking — the natural starting point for everyone arriving by vehicle.
Two anchors, everything else is flexible. Mangala Aarti at 7:00 AM and Sandhya Aarti at 7:00 PM are the non-negotiables. Plan all other visits in the gaps between these two.

Recommended Plan · 10 AM–3 PM Arrival
Arriving in the recommended window? This is your complete plan — both days, every stop.
Walk directly from the parking into the Somnath Corridor. A large, beautifully developed stretch covering ,Ram Mandir, and a scenic coastal walkway. The late afternoon light here is exceptional. Budget 1.5 hours.
Begin with the Old Somnath ruins within the same campus — remnants of the ancient temple, allow 15–20 minutes here. Then proceed to the main Temple Darshan, deposit your phone at the free locker and enter before the aarti begins. Pick up your Light & Sound Show ticket at the gate on the way in.
The morning aarti — intimate, devotional, and unhurried. The temple is quiet and cool at this hour. Arrive 10–15 minutes early. This is Somnath before the crowds arrive — a completely different atmosphere from the evening, and equally memorable.
Local note: Doing both Mangala Aarti and Sandhya Aarti on the same trip, with a night's rest in between, is a fundamentally different experience from a rushed day trip. That's what this itinerary is built around — one night is the minimum to do it properly.
Temple · Old Somnath · L&S Show

Cool, pleasant. Ideal for all outdoor walks and darshan.
Starts warming up. Mornings and evenings still comfortable.
Hot or humid. Stick to early morning and evening visits.
Very hot or monsoon rains. Aartis still happen — outdoor walks are uncomfortable.
Early morning (6–8 AM) is the best darshan slot regardless of season — cooler and far less crowded.
Our travel desk is run locally — we know which room faces the sea, which auto is reliable at 5:30 AM, and exactly when to queue for the aarti. No booking fees.
The biggest mistake is coming as a day trip from a far city. You arrive tired, miss one aarti leaving, and return having seen the place without experiencing it. One night changes everything.
Somnath Temple prohibit mobiles. Free lockers at the temple entrance — plan 5 min for this. Note your meeting point before depositing.
Modest, covering clothing for all. No shorts or sleeveless tops. Light cotton works well. A dupatta or shawl is useful year-round.
Mangala Aarti 7:00 AM · Madhyahna Aarti 12:00 PM · Sandhya Aarti 7:00 PM. Arrive 15 minutes early for any aarti — especially Sandhya.
Veraval station (7 km) connects to Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mumbai. Somnath has its own small station on a branch line. Autos and taxis available outside both.
Got more days? These circuits extend naturally from Somnath.
Two nights gives you multiple aartis, time at all places without any schedule pressure, and the freedom to simply sit by the sea.
Somnath and Dwarka connected in one circuit via Nageshwar Jyotirlinga. Includes the Bet Dwarka ferry and Dwarkadhish evening aarti.
The complete Saurashtra circuit — temples, Gir safari, Girnar hills, and the full Dwarka experience. Best for families.
We’re from Veraval. We know which properties sit closest to the
temple, which auto is reliable at 5:30 AM, and exactly when to queue
for the aarti. No packages, no commission — just practical advice from people who live here.
