Walk directly from the parking into the Somnath Corridor. A large, beautifully developed stretch covering ,Ram Mandir, and a scenic coastal walkway. The late afternoon light here is exceptional. Budget 1.5 hours.

Old Somnath + Temple Darshan
Begin with the Old Somnath ruins within the same campus — remnants of the ancient temple, allow 15–20 minutes here. Then proceed to the main Temple Darshan, deposit your phone at the free locker and enter before the aarti begins. Pick up your Light & Sound Show ticket at the gate on the way in.

Sandhya Aarti ⭐
The illuminated temple against the darkening Arabian Sea. The bells, the incense, hundreds of pilgrims in collective devotion. Arrive 15 minutes early, secure a spot inside. You’ll attend this again tomorrow — and it will feel different both times.

Light & Sound Show ( Closed During Monsoon Season)
Rear wall of the temple, facing the sea. 45 minutes. Narrates 1,000 years of Somnath’s history — repeated destruction and persistent rebuilding. Best on the first evening so you go into Day 2 with the full context of what you’re visiting.

The morning aarti — quiet, cool, no crowds. A completely different atmosphere from last night’s Sandhya Aarti. Arrive 10–15 minutes early. The sanctum at dawn is the most peaceful it gets. This is the best moment of the entire trip for most pilgrims.

After the aarti, this is when the 2-night visit earns its difference. With no checkout pressure and no schedule, you can book a Rudrabhishek or Abhishek at the temple counter and attend it properly. The pooja takes 45–60 minutes and is a deeply personal experience. Book at the counter near the entrance — rates and slots depend on the day.

Somnath Temple prohibit mobiles. Free lockers at the temple entrance — plan 5 min for this. Note your meeting point before depositing.
Dress Code
Modest, covering clothing for all. No shorts or sleeveless tops. Light cotton works well. A dupatta or shawl is useful year-round — especially for the pooja.

Mangala Aarti 7:00 AM · Madhyahna Aarti 12:00 PM · Sandhya Aarti 7:00 PM daily. Arrive 15 minutes early for Mangala and Sandhya especially.
Booking a pooja
Rudrabhishek and Abhishek can be booked at the temple counter near the entrance. Go early on Day 2 morning to secure a slot — popular slots fill up by 8 AM.
